THE SEARCH FOR A PLOT OF LAND

Since our decision was made not to buy a finished house in Portugal but to build one according to our ideas, not a day went by without research on the internet.

Where should it be? How big should and may it be? Directly at the sea or maybe not so close? What about the surrounding infrastructure? Are cultural offers in the vicinity usable for us? Is it still quiet enough for us to find our peace? Important for me: the sea must be reachable within a few minutes, so that I can walk our two dogs at the sea . The evaluation of all these questions led to the fact that already the search for a suitable property should be a first challenge.

After many unsuccessful attempts and inspections, the fog seemed to lift in autumn 2019. A property in the Alentejo, near the village of Odemira, not far from V.N. de Milfontes, opened up. With almost 890 square meters of space, it was perfect in size and also suitable for all our preferences. After detailed inspections and several discussions with our local contacts, the final decision was made to buy the property.
